At U.S. Nationals this year, there will be more than 900 different cars competing – and Technical Operations inspects all those cars – one at a time before they race and then after each round. It’s a huge job but there has been a shift in the NHRA technical world over the last couple of years that is making it just a little bit easier for the U.S. Nationals. It’s been a pretty quiet, but significant, shift. Former Indiana resident Glen Gray, Vice President, Technical Operations for NHRA came home to Indiana and brought the hub of Technical Operations with him – more specifically to Hendricks County and Brownsburg’s Lucas Oil Raceway. “There’s a...
Read MoreWords and words in blogs are more far-reaching and have a greater impact than you might imagine. Let me tell you a story about one of the blog posts I recently wrote about my experience at a pond class at Nature’s Choice in Brownsburg. If you read the post, you know I was excited about going and very impressed with the class and everything I learned. I took lots of pictures primarily to augment my own learning. Read MoreIt’s always a surprise what I am going to see as I traverse Hendricks County. This time, I had to pull over to take some photos of this scene in Brownsburg: Several dirt track winged sprint teams were on their way from Kokomo, Ind. to Iowa and over-nighted at the Comfort Suites in the ‘burg. Read MoreHow often do you find yourself on one path, looking for one thing, but something else all of a sudden comes up and takes away your attention and sends you off in another direction? You’re probably laughing, especially if you are getting to “that age” where maintaining your attention is a challenge. Why did you go into that room? Why are the salt and pepper shakers in the refrigerator? It’s amusing to some, annoying when it’s you. Anyway, back to my story: I had never seen, nor participated, in one of the duck races that organizations hold as fund raisers. But they sound like it could be fun. However, I had lots of questions: Do they just...
